LAST MAN
ALIVE
(Music
and lyrics by David Gilbert; written and first recorded January, 2005)
The Last Man Alive, the last one to survive
He lives in a world he cannot
recognize
He can’t watch TV, or use his 4WD
‘Cause there’s nowhere to go and no
reason to hide
He’s a modern man in a primitive
state
Red and white and two shades of grey
Closing his eyes can’t make it go
away
‘Cause the end of man is here to
stay
Thinking back it made so much sense
All the fear and the hatred and the
sweet revenge
There’s still a chance to make
amends
Sometimes enemies can make best
friends
He gives his last speech with a tear
in his eye
To an empty shell of what was
civilized
Red sky lookin’ like a wilted rose
Feels so good to know the wind still
blows
Cold and alone he turns to face
A fading image of the human race
Thinking back it made so much sense
All the fear and the hatred and the
sweet revenge
But when the greatest threat to
world peace is you
You better listen up before we’re
through
Praying that his God will sympathize
Let him make his peace and apologize
Lord, help me define success
How did this all become such a mess
The answer came back so suddenly
As it echoes back to you and me
Although right now it might make
sense
All the fear and hatred and the
sweet revenge
But take it from me, give it a try
And look your neighbor in the eye
The Last Man Alive he recommends
Turn the other cheek and start a new
trend
The Last Man Alive is calling back
to you
We got to get it together before
we’re through
The Last Man Alive, The Last Man Alive
